iOS 5.1 GM Leaked In The Wild — Brings Permanent Camera Button On LockScreen And Japanese Siri

Apple’s unreleased iOS 5.1 GM has been leaked in the wild by folks over at a Portuguese blog BlogDoiPhone who could get an iOS 5.1 Pre-GM build and make it working on their devices. For those who don’t know, GM stands for Golden Master, the build which is ready for release. The folks there didn’t mention how they got their hands on iOS 5.1 GM build but they leaked some photos and screenshots which showing some changes in their next big iOS 5.1 update.

This pre-GM build shows that Apple is bringing new permanent camera button on your lockscreen. It’s a new shortcut on the slide-to-unlock. For me, this is definitely a good change for people who don’t know much about hidden features of iOS 5.

That’s not the only change related to the camera button. Apple made it more stylish while launching the camera from the lockscreen. From these pictures it appears that you can just tap on camera button and slide is up to unveil Camera.app.

Currently, to open the Camera application without having to unlock your phone, you must double-tap the Home button to display the button for the camera (see details of this in our book Secrets of iOS 5 ). This is impractical and yet many people do not notice that this functionality exists.

Fortunately iOS 5.1 Apple will change this, leaving a permanently active camera icon on the screen locked. To take a picture, just slide your finger up the icon, making the camera screen appears.

Another change in this GM build is that it includes the rumored Japanese language support for Siri. So it’s not a rumor now, Apple is indeed bringing Japanese language for Siri.

Another point that we saw was the proof of the inclusion of the Japanese language in the languages supported by Siri, as previously suspected . Unfortunately, we also make sure that there will be this time we will have the support to the Portuguese .

Nothing more! The blog didn’t mention any other change in the leaked iOS 5.1 GM version.

Thoughts?
