That was so fast guys! While pod2g and his dream team working on finding vulnerabilities in iOS 5.1, the well-known German iPhone hacker Stefan Esser, better known as i0n1c, could jailbreak iPad 2 running iOS 5.1. He could do so only a week after the release of the new firmware.
Couple of days back, we have informed you that pod2g started working on iOS 5.1 jailbreak and he also asked users to send him crash reports to ease finding vulnerabilities. Pod2g also teased i0n1c by saying “a little bird told me you’ll have a surprise soon.” so he probably knew!
i0n1c, few minutes ago, published 3 photos on his Twitter account showing an iPad 2 on iOS 5.1 running Cydia. The news surprised everyone for the quick progress he achieved.
I hope this new exploit found by i0n1c works on the newly released third-generation iPad known as the New iPad. Once the New iPad hits shelves, i0n1c will try his exploit and most probably it will work.
Jailbreaking iPad 2 means the same for iPhone 4S users which also means an A5 jailbreak soon. We don’t know whether it’s tethered on untethered jailbreak. Let’s wait and see!
