Apple added some really amazing features in iOS 5.0 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Apart from the over 200 new features, iMessages is one major new feature. If you have used BlackBerry Messenger or BBM, you’ll know that iMessage is exactly similar to RIM’s legendary service. As is the case with Apple, there are some limitations with iMessage. There’s good news though, with the Attacher jailbreak tweak you can attach files to your iMessages.
iMessage is Apple’s new inter-platform messaging client. Available on all iOS 5.0 supported iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices, this client can be used to send messages in text format. Apart from messages, users can also send and receive photos, videos and voice notes. Delivered and read reports are automatically provided by iMessages. Users can know when the other party is composing a message.
The best part about iMessages app is that it does not necessarily require a network connection to function. iMessages works flawlessly between a Wi-Fi iPad and an iPod touch. iPhone owners can chose whether they want iMessages to run via their network or via Wi-Fi connection. Since an iMessages app is also available for Mac OS X computers, iOS device owners can also start conversations with someone using iMessages for Mac.
While photos, videos and voice notes can be sent using iMessages, users can not send any other file through this medium. Apple has added this limitation by default. However the new Attacher tweak for jailbroken iOS devices eliminates this limitation and lets you attach any file to messages sent using iMessages.
You can use Attacher tweak to:
- Open any received attachment.
- Attach and send any type of file.
- Record and attach voice memos.
- “Listen before attaching” switch in Settings > Attacher.
- Customize voice memo’s name in Settings > Attacher.
