Unlock 5.1 iPhone 4, 3GS with Ultrasn0w 1.2.6 Soon

As we reported you yesterday that Apple has released iOS 5.1 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch just after the new iPad Media event. The software brought out new features such as Siri in Japanese, the ability to delete individual images from your Photo Stream and redesigned camera access on the lock screen and more.



Today the iPhone Dev-team has released new version of Redsn0w to bring jailbreak for non-A5 devices (iPhone 4, 3G, iPad 1, iPod touch 4G, 3G). In case that you’re one of those who rely on unlock their iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS using Ultrasn0w, we have good news for you. iPhone Dev-team announced that they will release new version of Ultrasn0w (Ultrasn0w 1.2.6) to unlock iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS on 5.1.

If you use ultrasn0w for your carrier unlock, be sure to use a custom IPSW to get to 5.1 first!  Don’t ever restore to a stock Apple IPSW!  Use redsn0w’s “Custom IPSW” button to create a NO_BB_* version of the 5.1 IPSW and restore to that instead of the stock one.  (That option is available only to 3GS and iPhone4-GSM owners.)  ultrasn0w itself will be updated for 5.1 in the next few days (same baseband support, not 5.1’s baseband).

To make it clear ultrasn0w 1.2.6 won’t be a new unlock for higher basebands, ultrasn0w 1.2.6 will bring compatibility with iOS 5.1 to unlock the already unlockable basebands.

According to iPhone Dev-team, ultrasn0w 1.2.6 will be released within the few coming days. You will be able to download ultrasn0w 1.2.6 to unlock your iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS from Cydia after jailbreaking on 5.1 using custom firmware (MUST be custom firmware), stay tuned.
