After a long silence, here’s Pod2g announcing some important updates regarding the long-awaited iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak. For who don’t know, Pod2g was the key person in the dream team (iPhone Dev-team and Chronic Dev-team) who was able to release the iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4S, 4, 3GS, iPad 2, 1, iPod touch 4G and 3G.
The iOS security researcher has announced some interesting news which promises that a new untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1 is on the horizon. Pod2g confirming that they have all exploits required to do a new jailbreak, and he is working on bypassing ASLR (address space layout randomization) at boot up
What is ASLR:
Address space layout randomization (ASLR) is a computer security method which involves randomly arranging the positions of key data areas, usually including the base of the executable and position of libraries, heap, and stack, in a process’s address space.
Apple introduced ASLR in iOS 4.3. This makes it harder to jailbreak the iDevice, and stops apps from breaking the device accidentally.
It seems that we are few steps away from releasing iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak for iPad 3, 2, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4S, 4, 3G, iPod touch 4G and 3G. So hurry up Pod2g
